In the 16th century, the beguinage was a place where elderly poor women lived together in small houses around a park. These beguines often dedicated themselves to a life of faith. Nowadays, only a few beguines live in this Beguinage, and most of the other houses are homes for the elderly. The court itself is a beautiful place of rest in the city and definitely worth a visit.

This piece of history is so small and hidden a lot of people in Antwerp have never been there, but it's beautiful. Respect the silence and the nuns.
