Can be hot in the summer, but a great free place to let your dog blow off some steam. I do recommend not going mid-day during the summer.

Large open space literally at the foot of the mountains. It's gated all around with about a two-mile long loop. It's just a nice place to bring your fuzzy pals. Not for nothin' but it has a cool view of the city in the morning as well.
