A 24 million year old volcanic ash deposit that is the backdrop for many movies such as Cowboys and Aliens. A wonderous place to hike, take pictures, and be in awe of the earth's forces that created this.

Stellar photography opportunities at this site with white "hoo-doo's" - geological formations that are sculptural and unique. Easy hike along canyon floor.

“This is a great placein Abiquiu to stop in your way to either Plaza Blanca or Ghost Ranch. Open for lunch, they have great sandwiches at the grill in the store. Eat at the brightly colored oil clothed tables, and shop for snacks and a variety of gift items (even some kitchen water and gourmet pet food) truly an old fashioned general store.”
