Tips from locals
The St. John's Bridge is my favorite bridge to sit under and watch the ducks and sea otters play in water. Not to mention the neighborhood around it has really cool historical restaurants and bars.
You want small town feel in the City of Portland? Try the Nation of St Johns out on the NW peninsula! This is a down-to-earth, still mostly blue-collar neighborhood feel with some slick city benefits. There are a number of really yummy restaurants for everyone, (including vegan) a number of bars…
Originally its own small town, since swallowed up by Portland. Maintains the small town feel with a downtown area, shops, restaurants, library, and grocery store. If you go to St. Johns, you should also check out Cathedral Park!
We are less than 5 minutes by car to St. Johns. This neighborhood has lots of food, shops, and the historic St. Johns Bridge.
This area is eclectic, artsy, some good restaurants, and easy to wander the little town. It's just north of Portland proper. Head across the North Portland iconic bridge to this area for the day.
