Just one of the most beautiful buildings I've been in and it's free. Marble staircases seem to weave through each other like an Escher drawing and they take you up to a room with the most magnificent Tiffany glass domed ceiling.

Formally the main branch of the library. Current museum - entry is free, and great to know if you need a place to rest or to use the bathrooms.

OMG. This place. Always free. And always stunning. Not only are their thoughtfully curated rotating art exhibitions, on Wednesdays there is a free classical concert. Get there at 11:45 a.m. if you want a seat. Music starts at 12:15. (Grab yourself a Do-Rite Donut to scarf down on the way.)
