The area was very much involved in mining, mainly tin and copper. Once the capital of the World. There is still a lot of evidence of this industrial heritage. The museum will give you an idea of what happened underground, the mining and then the production. You will then have a better understanding of life in those times and look at the old engine and pump houses differently. The Great Flat Lode is nearby and again a great chance to enjoy a bit of fresh air while seeing a lot of history and scenery.

King Edward Mine is a 15 minute walk from our hut or a 2 minute drive. Guided tours are available of the old mining works. Why not pop in for coffee and cake at The Croust Hut which is situated opposite!
