The ruins of the historic castle, so closely associated with the legend of King Arthur, are a must-see. The outdoor interpretation takes you on a journey of 1,500 years of discovery while you can also investigate a Dark Age settlement.

Tintagel is only 7 miles away with its new spectacular bridge taking visitors high above the sea below to reach the enchanted island.

The main attractions are the new bridge (do you dare to look down through the gap in the middle?) across to the castle ruins and the ghostly statue of King Arthur in the middle of the headland. It's quite expensive (currently £16 each - free for English Heritage members) but worth doing just once.

This cliff-edge castle, long associated with the legend of King Arthur, offers a day out that is as rich in adventure as it is in history. Straddling both the mainland and a weather-worn headland jutting out to sea, the site opens up a wild landscape bearing the imprint of centuries of habitation.

The new bridge opens in August 2019, and the views and the old castle ruins are amazing
