Thin-crust pizzas and cocktails in a neighborhood spot

Beretta

About this place
Before the Mission was filled with artisanal ice cream shops and designer boutiques, there was Beretta. This casual Italian spot opened in 2008 and quickly became an industry favorite, churning out thin-crust pizzas and modern takes on Italian comfort food. And with Adriano Paganini (Back of the House Inc. restaurant group) and chef Ruggero Gadaldi at the helm, it’s no wonder this lively neighborhood haunt is still going strong a decade later.

Delicious California fare and pizza for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Great cocktails + outdoor seating!

Cocktails are the best. Ask for the Field Guide to Birds menu. Get there early and sit outside unless you're already hearing impaired. Inside the music is loud and guests shout to be heard.

Excellent food and cocktails. Can be loud. It's a bit of a walk, but it's worth it.

“Another one of my absolute favorites. This one is a bit more upscale, but worth the price. Be sure to reserve in advance. ”

“Millennials love to stand in lines. Go mid-morning on weekdays to avoid long lines. But, the food is well worth it! Riches beyond your wildest dreams: butter-golden pains au chocolat, cappuccinos with ferns drawn in dense foam and croque monsieurs turbo-loaded with ham, two kinds of cheese and béchamel. Don't be dismayed by the inevitable line out the door – it moves fast – but be aware that lolling in Dolores Park is the only possible post-Tartine activity.”

“According to Eater San Francisco: "Brothers Miguel and Victor Escobedo opened their first Papalote at 24th and Valencia in 1999 (there’s now a second spot on Fulton) and from it they’ve built a salsa empire — their roasted tomato goodness is available by the jar all over the area. They don’t make their burritos in front of you, as they do at many of the area’s other taquerias, but their sizable creations typically do the trick, and vegetarians dig options like soyrizo and tofu mole."”
