Great place to see many protected species, some only found in Florida. Varied ecosystems including scrub habitat and freshwater systems. On one trail visit, I observed Bald Eagles, Scrub Jays, tons of Gopher Tortoise, woodpeckers, and so many more. Lots of hiking trails, some parts can be biked. Nice campground near small creek. Access to Legacy Trail (rail-to-trail), which runs through park and continues south to Venice, Florida.

Feed the scrub jays right out of your hand. We keep peanuts on hand for that pleasure. Area good for kayaking too.
