Traditional Danish barbecue - this is what the typical past and present Danish working class eats for lunch (however this is open in the evening). It's just nasty and amazingly good at the same time. You will be served red cabbage, home-made mayonnaise, the thickest sauce made on good stock, and of course porks meat in all shapes and sizes.
Recently opened (summer 2015) serving old school pork sandwiches etc. of high quality
Try something very traditional (but with a modern upgrade): the bøfsandwich. Sort of Denmarks equivalent to a burger. The one with 'flæskesteg' and 'frikadelle' are also great options.
The Danes love their pork and you haven't been to Denmark if you haven't tried a Flaeskestegs sandwhich (a pork roast sandwhich). Grisen is a hidden away gem to get your pork fix. If you are feeling brave you can also try the Bofsandwhich - a traditional western Danish "burger" with gravy , eggs and lots of fixings. NB this place is cash only.
