Kyoto Arashiyama "Hanare" araka-tanaka was registered as "Kyoto Important Landscape Architectural Monuments". It is a traditional Japanese 'Kyo-Machiya' located in scenic Arashiyama, on the west side of Kyoto. The train station (JR Saga Arashiyama Sta. 5min walk away) is from there it's 12-17 minutes to JR Kyoto Station. Arashiyama is with its beautiful scenery, the Hozu and Ooi Rivers with its romantic 'Moon-Crossing Bridge Togetsukyo,' the bamboo grove, etc...

This Kyoto Machiya "Mitsuishi" is a renovated house in Ebisubambacho, Kyoto. It belonged to the household of Bamba, who has traditionally lived and prospered in Ebisubamba. It is a government approved accommodation so it is safe and reliable. When renovating the house, we tried our best to keep or reproduce traditional structures such as the pillars, walls, and dirt floor, while replacing the bathroom with new modern facilities.

I am Katsuya. Thank you for looking at my traditional Kyoto machiya style house. Year by year, these kinds of traditional houses are decreasing even in Kyoto. That is why I decided to renovate this Japanese traditional house as guest house as I hope to preserve. This Kyoto style Machiya was built in 1943 using the traditional construction method. It is made of natural materials such as wood, bamboo, paper and clay.
