Este edificio, conocido popularmente como Etxetxu, fue construido en 1612 y es el más antiguo del Puerto Viejo, anterior incluso al propio puerto, que fue elevado en 1629, diecisiete años después. Esta singular casa que preside la entrada a la parte alta de la barriada, fue además Ayuntamiento de Getxo durante 22 años (desde 1838 hasta 1860), sede de la Cofradía de Pescadores y Escuela de Pilotaje de los marineros Lemanes. Incluso ha sido escenario de varias películas, la más sonada “Un poco de Chocolate”.
