On Sanibel Island's back bay: Real Florida! A small nature center, a guided tour on a tram or drive through options. The birds here are amazing. Possible Alligator sightings (hint: usually seen on the left side of the road at one of the pull over stops) You can also fish in the refuge.

On Sanibel Island: $6 to get over the bridge, then pay to park. It's totally worth it! The beach is amazing. There are usually dolphins playing just offshore. If you haven't seen a dolphin, head between the lighthouse and the fishing pier area. I almost guarantee you will see some playing to the right of the pier.

Further down Sanibel Island: Getting out here is half the fun (and it comes with a small price--$6 toll to get over the bridge and you pay to park.) The drive is beautiful and the shelling is great too.

I recommend renting bikes here and heading up Captiva Island to go exploring. You'll be biking right along the Gulf of Mexico...ahh. Be sure to respectfully explore the cemetery at the Chapel By The Sea and visit the quirky Captiva district.
