There are two entrances for the Purgatory Creek Natural Area. One is Prospect Street, just a few blocks away from the cottage or on Wonder World Dr. and Hunter Road. The endangered Golden-cheeked warbler nests there in the spring.Lots of birds and hiking available.

This was the original grounds of Aquarena Springs. Previously showing mermaids swimming with Ralph the swimming pig and many other unique attractions until Texas State University purchased it for the Meadows Center. The location of Aquarena Center is the headwaters of the beautiful San Marcos River. It's a great place to relax, connect with nature and go birding.

Food Scene

I enjoy there breakfast tacos or migas. All the food is good and it is a popular place. Sometimes the service can be slow, but plenty of people watching to help the time go by. A local hangout.
