climb Edinburgh's extinct volcano and see the city from above. Wear proper footwear and allow an hour for the climb from street level. Well worth it for the view. You can also walk up Salisbury Crags behind Arthurs Seat if you start from the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood Park, or approach Arthurs Seat from Duddingston Village where you will find Edinburgh's oldest pub and old fashioned bowling alley at The Sheep Heid ( the climb starts with very steep steps for about 20 minutes) .
