Lunch at Amisfield on a sunny day is sensational, glass of wine and a game of petanque with great food... winter days the big fireplace gets going and it becomes more cosy. Stylish 'industrial/country feel' and semi sophisticated. Expensive, but definitely worth a visit. They close early due to local restrictions so dinners need to be early - Trust the Chef menu is great (but starve yourself as it's VERY generous). Children welcome.

Simply stunning track- beside the river most of the way, across a suspension bridge through local scenery - definitely one of our favourite things to do. Start the ride/walk/run at Arrowtown river (rent a bike from Arrowtown Bikes & follow the signs) - the trail is extensive - we normally go as far as to Gibbston Valley Winery and have lunch 😆 - they have van taxis there to take bikes back if you’ve had enough (otherwise cycle back to Arrowtown)

Essentials

Really good supermarket, suprising as its a 'budget' chain but it's amazing! You just have to pack your own stuff into boxes or bags (not the end of the world!). It's off the main 'drag' so it avoids having to go into Frankton which frequently has significant traffic jams these days.
