Sightseeing

Ljubljana Castle, a hard-to-miss symbol of the city, is situated on a small hill in the center of Ljubljana, 60 meters (196 ft) above the old town. Some parts of today’s structure date back to the 15th century; this mighty medieval fortress has served as military housing as well as the royal residence for several centuries. Inside the castle there is the Chapel of St. George (1489), redone later in Baroque style, and decorated in 1747 with the colorful coat-of-arms of Carniolian provincial governors. Nowadays the castle represents an oasis in the middle of the Ljubljana’s old town, where people can relax or go for a walk. It offers a great view.

This is ThE Central point of Ljubljana. Look at Prešern monument, Franciscan church and triple bridge. Three Bridges are probably the most beautiful and well-known of all bridges in the city. It is made up of three bridges that connect the modern city to the Old Town. This area is packed with bars and restaurants, and it is a popular spot for photographs.

Go to a boat cruise : You can see the other site of Ljubjana from the river. First, you head towards Spica where Ljubljanica splits into two, offering a view into nature. Then you will turn back at Livada. On the way, you can enjoy the view of Ljubljana Castle, some of the embassies and newly renewed river banks. As you approach the old town, you have a magnificent view of the Cobblers' Bridge, Franciscan Church, Tromostovje or the Triple Bridge, the Market and charming baroque houses.

Bled is a fairytale setting encircled by the Julian Alps and natural forests. If you want to get the best views you'll have to walk up hills though (go to the castle). I also recommend the traditional boat rides in a Pletna to the tiny island with ancient church and roman remains. At the end indulge yourself with a piece of Bled Pie.
