The Sanford Lab is where they are studying the wacky activity of Neutrinos far under the earth in the old tunnels and caverns of the historic gold mine....if you want more educated words on the topic, you'll have to stop in. They have bus tours during the summer if you are interested in local history.

Mickelson Trail starts in Deadwood, SD and runs all the way to Edgemont, SD (103 miles). It covers some amazingly beautiful earth. It is great for a leisurely stroll or an adventure-in-biking a great trail (it can be done top to bottom in three days-two if you are that awesome).
