It's one of the best pubs in town for a pint of Guinness, with a bonus of being an excellent spot for people watching in its outdoor seating area. They do a tasty classic pub toasted sandwich too, believe it or not that’s actually an authentic traditional pub snack all over the country.

I've never been in the front bar but the lounge at the back is something to behold. The decor is an eclectic mix of old election posters, records on the ceiling and shrines to past owners. The staff are friendly, the customers are a mix of old and new Dubliners, there's a great jukebox and a big beer garden out the back. Not to be missed if you're in Stoneybatter

Parks & Nature

It's right on the doorstep - great running trails and roaming deer - you'll usually find the deer south west of the Papal Cross. The president lives here too - look out for the big white house on Chesterfield Ave - there's also an old fort, playgrounds, a zoo and some lovely cafes - it's giant, go explore.

Arts & Culture

A 10 minute walk away is The Light House cinema in Smithfield Square. This is a beautiful contemporary cinema that screens a great mix of art house films and cooler releases. It's opposite the Jameson Distillery if you fancy taking a tour of that also.

The work of pioneer modernist architect Eileen Gray is on display and it's with the visit for that alone, but there's plenty more to see too.
