Less than 10 min walk from the house in the old city hall that is nicely renovated. Bakery, great pizza and sandwiches here, nice atmosphere, just by the riwer, open the doors when its warm. A very popular place, so can be too crowded sometimes.

The Cafe Generalen is a great place to eat with stunning view over the park Ravnedalen, which is the nicest park in town. The restaurant has supposedly the best burgers in town as well. Great concerts here in the summer with a big outdoor stage.

According to my daughter that sometimes helps out as a bartender, this is the coolest bar in town, very casual, industrial interior, super nice staff and they got the "best burger in town" price this year.

Parks & Nature

A great park for everyone, nice hikes with stunning views, great cliffs for rock climbing (on the left just next to the Cafe Generalen, here you can go up at the top as well). The park was constructed from 1874–1878 by military soldiers under the command of General, Joseph Frantz Oscar Wergeland, the younger brother of Camilla Collet, a novelist and passionate advocate of women's rights as well as the author Henrik Wergeland. The Cafe Generalen is a nice place to eat, supposedly the best burgers in town. Great concerts here in the summer with a big outdoor stage.

A beautiful walk around the island as well as historical with lots of batteries from the 2nd WW (memorial site at the top). You can drive to the very top and park there (parking fee) or park by Kilden, the concert house (free on Sunday) If you take left after the bridge, you will find a marine museum with lots of activities for the kids. You can continue up along the quarantine wall to the beach Bendiksbukta. If you follow the road further you will end up at a scenic point at the very south part, go back on the road to the top. Now this island is hosting a lot of artists, you can walk around and look at their galleries

A wonderful, private beach, not known by the tourists. It Blomma (the local name) is situated in Galgeberg which is an interesting and beautiful historical sight with several batteries from the Napolean and 2nd WW. The houses are old, most of them moved from the city center after the city fire. Galgeberg was also famous for witch burning in 1650-70 (Galge=gallow). If you follow the path to the right of this beach all the way down to the sea, you will reach this site. Here you can easily go for a private swim from these rocks.

A 5 minute walk from the house, had a diving tower. There are also beautiful cliffs if you want to be more private (on the right hand side, continue next to the boats). On the left side is another beach if you continue on the path by the stair next to the ocean. If you go up the stairs, you will find some batteries for canons from the 2nd WW.

A must; the most impressive museum in Kristiansand with authentic equipment from a former military installation built in 1941-44 by the German navy during WW II. Together with its sister battery at Hanstholm in Denmark, they formed a barrier strategy that Adolf Hitler worked on personally: to obstruct Allied naval forces by blocking the Skagerrak and the seaways to Eastern Norway, Kattegatt Bay and the Baltic Sea. Only a field of ten nautical miles wide could not be covered and was therefore mined. The fortress had four gun positions, one still intact: a 38 cm calibre gun, one of the largest remaining land-based guns in the World; weighs 110 tons, 20 m long with a range up to 55 km.

Is the only natural history museum on the Southern Coast of Norway. The museum was founded in 1828 and is located in the former farm Gimle; the museum is in the outhouse, the botanical garden is in the park, the main building also has a museum, which belongs to the Vest Agder Museum. A great activity is online-orientering in this park, a free activity if you subscribe to http://turorientering.no/skautrimmen/turer/2017/nye-poster-pa-agder-naturmuseum-og-botaniske-hage/
