City advice

Getting around

Buses

Edinburgh has an excellent bus service. From the High Street, the 26 and 124 travel frequently to the City Centre and eastwards along the coast. Payment can either be cash (no change given on city services) or contactless card (one ticket per card). See www.lothianbuses.com
Getting around

Bikes

Bikes are a good way to get around, though bear in mind that the centre of Edinburgh is rather hilly. Just Eat Cycles allow one to pick up and drop off bikes at many loctions around Edinburgh using a smartphone app. There are two loctions withing easy walking distance - Kings Road nd Joppa. See https://edinburghcyclehire.com/
Getting around

Taxis

Taxis are convenient. There are many companies - I tend to use City Cabs (see listing above).
Getting around

From the Airport

A taxi is the most convenient way of travelling from the airport - fare is about £30. A cheaper option is the tram to York Place and then the 26 bus to Portobello High Street. Alternatively take the 100 Airport Bus to Princes Street nd then the 26 bus to Portobello High Street.
Getting around

From Waverley Train Station

A taxi is easiest - fare is about £15. Buses are either is the 124 from Princes Street (about every 30 minutes) or the 26 from South St David Street (about every 15 minutes).
