There is a lovely walk across the Goodwill bridge from South Bank, through to the city via the Botanical Gardens & you can then continue on the pontoon walkway all the way to New Farm Park, the Brisbane Powerhouse, on to James Street with all it's shops, restaurants, coffee shops.
