Neighborhoods

Duranes is an historic barrio in the heart of Albuquerque with acequias running through it dating back to early Native and Hispanic settlement in the area. The neighborhood holds a diverse mixture of families, artists, and professionals, some of whom have lived in the area for generations and have streets bearing their family names. A neighborhood park and community center is a short, 2-minute walk from the house, north along the Duranes Ditch (acequia) to Leopoldo Rd. To access the bosque trail, there is a parking lot at the west end of Gabaldon Pl. NW. Here you can ride your bicycle along the asphalt path or walk across the bridge and into the bosque itself, going either north or south along the meandering trail through the cottonwood trees.
