I've been to several Luau's. Old Lahaina is a very nice one. Food is excellent, plenty of drinks and the show is great. (note: No fire dancers in this show). The servers were excellent and the seating was comfortable.

This is a great Luau. It's a much smaller setting than the other one's I've been to. Each couple/group will have their own table. Not as many people attending. Food is excellent. Many cool Hawaiian drinks. Great dancing and fire show at this Luau.

Sightseeing

Want to see Turtles? They usually come out about noonish! Head to the Paia Fish Market at 11 then hit the beach to see the turtles laying out on the beach.

City advice

Don't miss

Some starter ideas

Two of my favorites are the 1) Bamboo forest/seven sacred pools. They're on the south side about a 2 hr drive to see them. 2) Sunrise at Haleakala can be beautiful (if you get a good morning) or it could be rain. NOTE: It will be 40F take extra clothing. Sunset is also a good idea. 3) Look at botanical gardens on the island. 4) Luau, the Feast at lele in Lahaina is nice one. It's more expensive, but you get your own table/server. 5) Whale watching/snorkling - Pacific Whalers does a great tour and the $ goes to a good cause. 6) If you're a diver - Lahaina Divers is my choice.
Ways to save

Buy food in Kahului

There is a walmart with a grocery on the left next to the Home Depot. I would suggest you stop off and load up on food, water etc. There is a safeway closer to the condo, but the pricing will be higher. NOTE: Maui does not allow plastic bags. bring a carry bag to save from having to buy one at a store. (I have several at the condo).
Getting around

Local Beaches

Honokowai beach is 5 mins walk from the Condo to the left if you look at the ocean. From the rear yard of the Kaleialoha, there is set of steps leading down to a small beach next door, feel free to use it, it's not a private beach. There is a much larger beach area down to the right behind the Kahana beach resort. Park on the street or this is a small lot just past the condo lot (hard to find - look for beach access sign). All beaches are public on Maui, you may just need to find the entrance around any hotel.
