"Kalimarmaro", also refered to as "The old Panathenaic stadium" or "The old Olympic stadium" is one of Athens' gems!! and it's a 6-minute walk from home: the main entrance is further on Leof. Vasileos Konstantinou, but you wanna go as a local... enter through the gate on Archimidous 16 and walk up toward the tribunes. It's surrounded by trees and walking/running trails. especially beautiful at night, when couples and friends usually hop over the small metal platforms and find their spot on the tribunes enjoying the silence and beautiful views of Athens at night (yes, illuminated Acropolis too ;)).

This beautiful Nacional garden, a park actually, is worth visiting. Nice vegetation, little lake, beautiful buildings, Presidential Palace, Zappeion Hall and more. If you cross the garden you will get to Syntagma Square (20-25 minutes, nice walk).

This beautiful Nacional garden, a park actually, is worth visiting. Nice vegetation, little lake, beautiful buildings, Presidential Palace, Zappeion Hall and more. If you cross the garden you will get to Syntagma Square (20-25 minutes, nice walk).
A 17 minute walk from the apartment are the unique remains of the temple dedicated to Zeus (6th century B.C.).

Wonderful restaurant, great Jazzy atmosphere, superb service and very tasty food. The restaurant specializes in meat, however you would find other beautiful dishes there. Two of my favorites are the smoked aubergine and their version of Dakos salad.

"The Little House" is a nice local Taverna (traditional Greek food), 2 minutes away from the apartment and open relatively late. Turn left and walk down Melissou street to Varnava Square. This is the first restaurant you see on your left when you get to the square.
Note that as all cafes and restaurants on the square, they have tables IN the square on your right (blue chairs).

Platia Varnava"The Little House" is a nice local Taverna (traditional Greek food), 2 minutes away from the apartment and open relatively late. Turn left and walk down Melissou street to Varnava Square. This is the first restaurant you see on your left when you get to the square.
Note that as all cafes and restaurants on the square, they have tables IN the square on your right (blue chairs).

The closest big supermarket is AB Supermarket (see below).
On its right, there is a great BAKERY.
There's also a small GROCERY STORE (late hours) right next to our building on the left, and a MINI-MARKET "OK" (late hours) on Varnava Square (turn left, go down melissou st., on your right hand side on Varnava Sq.).
Across the street from "OK" mini-market there's a shop called "OLIVER" where you may buy fresh nuts, granolas, health and organic products and more! Great quality and variety.
ON FRIDAYS MORNINGs, until 14:00, there's a local weekly market ("Laikee") on Eftichidou st., starting at "Hotel Chelsea" bar next to Kalimarmaro (5 min. walk), where fresh food products, fruits and vegetables, flowers, houseware, clothes and more can be found - recommended!
