Into trains? This restaurant has converted old railroad cars into a pretty cool restaurant and bar. Highly recommended for the "OMG, you will never guess what I did" traveler. Great views of Castle Crags, too.

Awesome lake! Totally worth the drive. The water is part snow melt and part mineral spring. You can lounge along the shore or use this place as a base to hit the lake trail or Heart Lake trail.

Lake Siskiyou is a great swimming or paddle board lake. A trail (about 7 miles) circumnavigates the lake. You can swim for free from any access point except the beach maintained by the Lake Siskiyou Campground.

Amazing trail along the McCloud river that connect Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls. Each waterfall is accessible by vehicle or via the trail. Hit the Cattle Camp swimming hole on the way back if you want to try a rope swing into 40 degree water!!!

Mount Shasta Ski Park has amazing mountain bike trails in the summer and quaint park skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Rates are surprisingly inexpensive, and it is small enough to not get (too) lost in. Great for kiddos to learn to ski/board.
