Sightseeing

The archaeolgical park in Pisac is truly enchanting. For me, these Inca ruinas are a big part of what makes this town so magical and iteresting. You can go up to the ruins by a motocar or a taxi from town, around 20-30 min. (You can actually see them from the town if you just look up!) - I have some friends who prefer here to Machu Pichu, so it's definitely worth a visit(;

One of the most beautiful places in the area. Auzangate is a mountain with stunning light blue lakes and amazing scenery. You can do a 4-6 day long hike with an organized group or even go for a day or two. It is located about two hours from Pisac. Highly recommended! https://goo.gl/maps/QM1jmmL6wVTqawxL6

Lake Kinsa Qocha and Viacha: These are two gorgeous mountain locations in the Pisac area. You can get there by taxi - both are beautiful locations to hike at and generally marvel at the wonderful lagoons, views and mountain landscapes at the top. You can also visit the local communities who live up there and get a chance to see their simple way of living.

Machu Pichu - The number 1 tourist spot in the area, is of course Machu Pichu. and there is no question why... (: The beauty of this place is truly breath-taking and inspiring. You can get there by taking a colectivo from Pisac to Ollantaytambo, and from there a train to Machu picchu.

City advice

Getting around

A collectivo is the best way to get around the valley!

You can visit other parts of the valley by jumping in a collectivo. You'll find colectivos to get to Cusco from the dropped pin here, you'll see a bus stop there and big white vans stop by: https://goo.gl/maps/iwtEiBZtRbuSGCCbA And colectivos to visit other parts of the valley (in the opposite direction i.e. away from Cusco) from here: https://goo.gl/maps/n1SXVuat5vjo4EDw9 If you're trying to get from Cusco to Pisac by colectivo, you can get there from a road called 'Puputi' (all taxi drivers know it, and you'll find it easily on Google maps) . the colectivos go from morning to evening
Getting around

Getting around in pisac town- go with a tuktuk!

Motocar / tuktuk: (Best for getting around the local area of Pisac and nearby places). This is Lucio's number (aka Pisac's number 1 motocar driver) - you can call him any time to collect you from the house (say 'fidele's house' if ordering from there) or anywhere else. He's super reliable and trustworthy. Lucio: +51 944 924 872. If lucio is not available, there is a tuktuk station just outside of the food market. (;

Our favorite cafes in town!

Kula cafe: This is our favourite cafe, where you can get a range of hot drinks and some seriously delicious dishes (I recommend eggs Benedict & pink chai 🤤). Honorable mentions: a nice range of homemade light cakes & herbal teas. Vegan and gluten free friendly! (: kula: https://goo.gl/maps/5TcG9UL4o4bbExgL9 Ulrike's cafe: Ulrike's is famous for their carrot cake - don't leave without trying one. They also let people send post stuff there, so if you need anything delivered they're your guys. Ulrike's: https://goo.gl/maps/qjpiMnpdWgPK1JEG7
Ways to save

Budget frinendly food

For budget juices and breakfast (and lunch, and dinner if you make it before 5!)... At the main Pisac food market, you can get a great sandwich for around 4 soles as well as plenty of other dishes, all for around 10 and under. This is one of the best options for those who are on a budget! There are some lovely ladies there who make juices too with whatever you desire, they cost 5 soles and up... I know, amazing price. (I go there religiously when I'm in town) Cultura viviente also does a great daily 'menu' (starter, main course + drink) for 10 soles.

Best bread in town!

Migos: We are addicted to Migo's sourdough bread (they have other great breads and bake goods too)- it's 10 soles and 🔥... Stick it in the toaster with avocado and tomato (and a little bit of salt and lime) and you got yourself an amazing breakfast.

Pisac community activities

Ecstatic dance: We love the ecstatic dance event that's on every saturday - good music, and a safe space to dance like you've never danced before. Search 'Ecstatic Dance Sacred Valley' on FB to find out where it is. Check out the Facebook groups: There are a bunch of groups where you can find information about events etc... Search 'Spirit events sacred valley' or 'Sacred Valley Community group' for info and any questions about everything that's going on in town. Ceremonies: If you're interested in medicine ceremonies or hikes, let us know and we'll point you in the right direction.

Our favorite eating spots

Sacred Sushi: Every sunday there's a beautiful event called 'Sacred sushi' - lots of people from the area gather to eat delicious vegan sushi & other vegan dishes and generally hang out. https://goo.gl/maps/Z8fs2KcGUUU4MVdv7 Sapos: Sapo's is our favourite pizza spot - it's a close competition between them and 'Antica osteria' who serve various Italian dishes. Sapos has more of a chillout spot vibe - and antica more of a restaurant feel. sapos:https://goo.gl/maps/ydaMFYoSmriXgfvm7 Mama cocha: A family run restaurant that serves great vegetarian and vegan food, as well as a few meat dishes.

The botanical garden

While the actual garden is often closed, there are a few cafes/restaurants surrounding the garden so you can still enjoy the beauty of it. (: Our favorite is 'La valentina'. They have great food including: sushi, fish, traditional dishes, poke bowls and more. My personal favorite though, is the falafal bowl. (: https://goo.gl/maps/GBRdUEdQUaQR1nFH7
Getting around

taxi services

Booked Taxis: (for longer distance journeys, and to get from Cusco to Pisac etc if you aren't into colectivos): +51 984 884 296 Uber works fine in Cusco too (you might have trouble in Pisac) which is also an option of course.

The weather in Pisac doesn't change much during the year. During the day it ranges between 16-26 C and at night between 8-15 C. So layers is the way to go (;
