Parks & Nature

Large nature area to the west of Landsmeer. Great for cycling, admiring the historic windmill or visiting the small organic farm for delicious local cheese. There are also opportunities for watersports such as kayaking and paddleboarding, and there is a huge adventure play area for children. See https://www.twiske-waterland.nl for details - the website is in Dutch, but the map should still be useful.

A very important part of Amsterdam history that should never be forgotten. Most of our guests want to visit the Anne Frank House, but tickets can be hard to come by. A limited number of tickets are available on-line in advance. If you don't manage to book advance tickets, you can usually get access on the day, but queues are very long. It is open until 10pm, and some of our guests have found the evening a good time to visit.

Much of Dutch history is maritime, which is why I find this one of the best museums for understanding the Dutch past. Lots of good exhibits, and you get to board a beautiful old ship that once sailed to the East Indies.
