If you're in Buffalo during the colder months and into local food, definitely check out the Chandler Street Winter Market. They're open every Saturday 9am to 2pm, from November through April. Sometimes they're open in the summer as well, so it may be worth a call to see if it's going. The market utilizes the large parking lot of Kitchens on Chandler (27 & 37 Chandler St.), which houses a collective of over 10 local food producers who retail out of their newly designed commercial kitchen spaces."

This is a fun spot on the Buffalo River in an old industrial setting that's been repurposed into an entertainment complex, restaurant, and brewery. Surrounded by old grain elevators, they have a number of activities including indoor and outdoor ropes courses, axe throwing, a new Ferris wheel, and an ice rink in the winter. In warmer months, this is where you can catch a roller derby bout with Buffalo's team, the Queen City Roller Girls.

Silo City is a little hard to describe. Located in the heart of Buffalo's historic grain elevator district, it's an ecological experiment in regeneration and art. They have been working to remediate and rewild the grounds while preserving the industrial remains of Buffalo's past. Silo City is an important venue in the Buffalo arts scene and has a number of events throughout the year, from outdoor avant garde theater to live music in old grain elevators. This place is incredibly photogenic, and during the summer, you will see people wandering around the grounds exploring with their cameras. During the off season, the only open part of the property is the restaurant and bar, Duende, which is definitely worth checking out.

Lately, you can't visit Buffalo without getting on the water. If you need to rent a Kayak, Elevator Alley is a great option. They're right down near the grain elevators, which is a favorite spot to get on the water and paddle around the remains of Buffalo's industrial past. You will likely see some wildlife - mostly various birds and deer. The water is not super clean - this is more of an industrial site-seeing paddle.
