City/town information

Nassau is about a few miles east of your current location. Hotels like Magaritaville, Courtyard Mariott and Holiday Inn are located in the Downtown area. Here you will find the Heart of Nassau. The excitement comes alive at our central area. Most of the popular banks, assorted restaurants, the straw market and souvenir shops are located in the Downtown area. You will also find the cruise port along the back strip. Spend a day just wondering around, sampling the native food, picking up souvenirs and enjoying yourself. There are also some beautiful frequented beaches like Junkanoo Beach (next to Magaritaville), Goodman's Bay and Saunder's Beach in this area. For a more quiet experience ask your driver to take you to Cabbage Beach on Paradise Island (Bridge toll - $2). There are also many restaurants in this area both local and tourist-accessible restaurants in the hotel. 'Da Fish Fry' is the hub for Bahamian food with small restaurant stalls lined off along the Esplanade. Right before you arrive to Da Fish Fry you have Bahama Grill (serving Bahamian Grilled food). Across from Da Fish Fry you have The Cricket Club (Bahamian Food), further east you also have Ichiban (Japanese restaurant) and a slew of others on the main Downtown strip of West Bay Street. If you're looking to have some fun you can stop into Baha Mar's Baha Bay (Waterpark) Monkey Bar (Indoor Bar), SLS Sky Bar (Rooftop Bar) or Bond Nightclub (must be vaccinated or have negative COVID test to enter premises) which are nearby. Senor Frogs, Fat Tuesday's, Sharkeez and many others are also on Prince George Wharf (North of Downtown, West Bay Street). Further east we have the bridge that leads to the world renowned Atlantis Resort equipped with one of the largest waterparks in the Caribbean, loads of restaurants and many other activities.

City advice

Getting around

Public transportation

In terms of public transportation our condo is located on a #10 bus route (can be caught at the beginning of the driveway). To catch a bus in The Bahamas all you need to do is extend your arm forward and wave your hand & to stop at your destination say “Bus stop” about 10 seconds before (you can also tell the bus driver your destination before being seated). Route containing the most popular bus route for visitors: Route 10, 10A and 10B. Route 10A jitney route. This route starts downtown and extends to Cable Beach shortly passing through central New Providence.
Getting around

Taxi Services

There are normally taxi drivers in compass point’s parking lot next door. A number you can call is 1 ( 2 4 2 ) 4 four 7 - 1 8 7 4 (four - 4, spaced out and spelt out like that because we cant share contact info), his name is Darrieus (pronounced Dar-e-us) and he is extremely reliable. Fees normally range from $10-$100 (not limited to) depending on the distance of the trip and amount of people.
Getting around

Rental Cars

Rental cars are a standard $40 per day and some have weekly deals. You can google a few rentals. Trusted are: Virgo Car Rentals, Hertz and a friend of mine also has a rental company his number is +1 (242) 804-9200 and his name is Ceron.

Culture Advice

We normally say “Good Morning/Afternoon/Night” whenever we enter anywhere as a courtesy.
Ways to save

Sundries and Groceries

We are about a 5-7 minute drive away from Solomon's Fresh Market. You can buy groceries, sunscreen, etc.. To get there (if you're driving) all you need to do when you leave Miramar is take a left to head further west and follow the road until you reach Old Fort Bay's roundabout. When you arrive to the roundabout you want to take another left and drive east towards the last roundabout and the entrance Fresh Market should be right there on your right. You can find other (cheaper) supermarkets on the cable beach strip (when you leave Miramar take a right and follow the road).
What to pack

What to bring

When travelling to The Bahamas bring comfortable shoes if you're planning to do a lot of walking. Sunscreen is essential as we in a hot climate, you can buy sunscreen on island and in the airport but if you use a special type be sure to pack it!
Book before you go

Restaurants

Most, if not all, of our restaurants are on g oogle. Reserving tables at restaurants here are the same as you would do anywhere.

When you call just let them know that Van sent you!
