Voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world the trip across the peninsula to see it is almost as beautiful. To get there start off with a left towards Carrigart. You'll see a sign for Kerrykeel and the Harry Blaney bridge about 4 KM's along the road on the right. Once you're over the bridge follow the signs for Fanad Head / Lighthouse. Park up and stroll down to the lighthouse where you can walk right round and take in the spectacular views. I like to come back through Kerrykeel and Milford. Some beautiful views along the water.

The Atlantic drive is a 12km route that's a real favourite for locals and tourists alike. The views are simply stunning and better still you'll pass the Singing Pub where you might like to have some lunch or a quick Pint of Guinness as you contemplate which way to go home.

Downings beach is only 10 mins away. One of the few remaining beaches where you can still drive your car onto the sand it's a great place to get your feet wet. It will take you less than 20 mins to stroll the length of the beach and admire the views across Sheephaven bay. Visit during the summer and you can take a lesson in windsurfing or paddle boarding. The harbour opposite is a popular place for kids of all ages to go pier diving. Most wear wet suits but there is the odd brave soul who goes in with nothing more than shorts. Don't ask me how!
