Wild, fresh seafood. This establishment has been written up in magazines repeatedly and people exit off the interstate highway to eat here. Expect a wait to be seated usually, but it should be worth it.

People like to hike over the big bridge and back. Some people plan it with their visit to the Historic Downtown District. Or, just drive over the bridge and continue out to the Wildlife Refuge and on towards the ocean....which the Max Brewer Memorial Parkway takes one to.

If you are near the bridge or the historic district, one can stroll through Space View Park that goes down to the river and the Space Walk of Fame across the street. Both of these contemplative areas are free (there is a museum nearby with a similar name that is not free). Through various sculptures and commemorative placks, tribute is paid to those who made accomplishments in space through the years, including some who lost their lives in the process.

Parks & Nature

It's free! Beautiful forest. This preserve is about two miles away. There is an informative visitor's center and trails. My favorite is a hammock trail that becomes completely shaded as the trail opens up into a towering "room" of forest jungle. That trail slopes down slightly and so becomes even cooler.
