Yosemite is truly an amazing place to visit. It is an hour (via Jacksonville rd) to the entrance gate and 45 min more to the valley. It offers beauty unparalleled. We have seen climbers on the 3,00 ft climb up El Capitan and felt the sprays of ice cold water from Upper Yosemite Falls. We highly recommend the wonderful valley floor tour. We saw two bears on one of the times we took the tour. Exciting! Make sure you make a reservation.

Sonora is a popular historic gold rush town. Is is about 12 min from our home. There are lots of antique stores, cute little boutiques, food for any taste buds. Our absolute favorite is is Sonora Thai. I love the yellow curry. They have a wonderful fresh salad with bits of chicken, celery, apple and avocado. The dressing they put in this salad.....wow!
This is a fun little western town only 7 miles from our house. You can ride the stagecoach, watch a play at the historic Fallon House or pan for gold at the Mine Supply Store. Whether you feel like dining, snacking, ice cream or candy, you can find what you like here.

There is a great little shop, The Wild Rose, that displays lots of local artists work and they also have a nice little coffee shop inside. Breakfast at Woods Creek Cafe is a must. It really is home cooking at its best. The cow themed interior will keep you entertained while chowing down. Make sure and write your name down on the chalkboard to the right of the door. That is how they will seat you.

During summer months you can swim from many places around the lake or right off the beach watch a movie under the stars. There is a 3.9 mile hike around the lake best walked from March to November.
