Stradun or Placa, the main street in the old town. At the site of today's main street in the past it was swampy terrain that separated Ragusa from Dubrava. Reclamation of wetlands in the 9th century, the population created one city. Stradun extends in an east - west and is located between two city gates (the Pile Gate and Ploce Gate). At the beginning and at the end of the main street there are two fountains (Big and Small Onofrio fountain) and two bell towers (Bell Tower and the bell tower of the Franciscan church and monastery).

Excellent restaurant shaded by old pine trees, with wonderful view to the old port. Try to grab a seat near the end of the terrace (for a better view). If you like tuna, try "Tuna tataki", you get medium-rare fresh Tuna with soy sauce and chili chops and some herbs. Wonderful! Also very good pork ribs. Excellent wine-list, from low (20€ per 0.7l bottle), mid range (50-60€ per 0.7l bottle), to high class wines (300€ per 0.7l bottle). Highly recommended

This restaurant is in place called Cavtat, about 20km from Dubrovnik. It is possible to take a boat from the old port (from the Old town of Dubrovnik), the boat stops just some 100m far from the restaurant. The restaurant is one of those hidden jewels, you just have to try it. Chef and co-owner is Lukasz Widomski, famous and passionate Polish cook. You have to see his creative plates. Not very cheap place, but not too expensive. You have to try it once, but be warned, you will want to come back to try all the other meals too :)

The best meat shop in Dubrovnik area! It is actually called "Taj Butcheraj" (the same owner as one of restaurant Taj Mahal). Top quality meat from the best Croatian organic farms (from Slavonia). Excellent dry aged rib eye and T-bone steaks, great lamb/beef/pork hamburgers, great domestic bacon and prosciutto (smoked pork ham), etc... This is really something special. It is though a bit pricey but the quality is top!
