These stunningly beautiful chalk gardens on Downland countryside, overlooking the sea, are a tranquil haven for all to enjoy. The views down to the sea are stunning - a great place for a picnic. The gardens are home to The National Plant Collection of the Plant Introductions of Sir Fredrick Stern - a unique collection of plants and trees, with many unusual plants to be discovered all year round.

Steyning is one the the prettiest Sussex towns. It has more or less everything - a fine high street, historic buildings, good shops and lovely countryside nearby. Steyning is pretty well preserved. There are still plenty of old buildings in Steyning including Tudor style half timbered houses and some smart Georgian town houses too.

This is in the old leisure centre right on the beach at Lancing and serves homemade pizza and drinks on the beach. There is a more formal restaurant too. Again it gets very busy, particularly at weekends.

This is the place for weekend brunches, lunches or ice creams on the beach. It is right on the beach at South Ferring. There are tables and chairs inside and out plus a takeaway kiosk. It is also licensed for that glass of wine or beer as the sun goes down.
