A bit of a trek from Claremont, but the best Indian restaurant in the area. (Trust me — I lived in India for a year, and am a bit of a snob when it comes to Indian cuisine!) Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, with a mix of Mumbai favorites (pav bhaji and chaat), Gujarati thali, and southern dosas. Plus, the place is run by a wonderfully warm and friendly family!

Here is the trailhead for the Pacific Electric bike path, which extends over 20 miles east to Fontana. Flat, safe, and while not always terribly scenic, it's a good way to get a sense of the surrounding communities.

The entrance to Johnson's Pasture, a lovely place to walk. After the initial brief uphill, the trail is mostly flat for the better part of a mile. At around 1.5 miles it links up with the main Claremont Wilderness Park loop. http://www.ci.claremont.ca.us/government/departments-divisions/human-services/parks/claremont-hills-wilderness-park-chwp

Everything Else

The easiest entrance to Thompson Creek Trail, a lovely paved and gently sloping walking path. This entrance is the midpoint, and the trail runs 2 miles between Towne Ave on the southwest/downhill end and Mills Ave. (near the entrance to Claremont Wilderness Park) at the northeast/uphill end. Parking here is free, unlike at the main Wilderness Park lot. Near Higenbotham Park there is also an entrance to the hiking trails that link up with main Wilderness Park loop.
