Sightseeing

Easy walking trail around a very picturesque lake close to the city, but with that out-of-the-city feel. Be sure to pack a lunch as there are many nice picnic spots along the way! Swimming and a sandy beach in summer time. Lake is much warmer than the ocean!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Completed in 1890 by Island coal baron, Robert Dunsmuir (see his Wikipedia page for an intriguing read), Craigdarroch Castle is a must see if you are into history, architecture, and things of that nature. Afterwards, stroll down some of the nearby side streets for a look at some stunning Victorian and Edwardian era mansions.

We can't say enough about this place. Fantastic, especially in winter, as it's a nice little getaway from the rain and grey skies. Tropical plants, flamingos, and hundreds of butterflies, what more could one ask for?
