Everything Else

You will find everything you need and more in Hout Bay. Visit the indoor market on Friday evenings and Saturday and Sundays. It's near the harbour (hence it's called Harbour Market) and it must be one of the best of its kind in the world. Great fun, great vibe, good music, great food. The harbour is lovely for trips and the market, the town has good shopping, little cafes and coffee shops tucked away and some great individual gift type shops. And a drive up Chapman's Peak and over to Noordhoek is a MUST, and drop in to one of the picnic spots on the way for a sundowner.

Great Italian food - pizzas (fantastic pizza oven) and pasta and more. Wednesday night is music night, huge menu with plenty of portion options, great service, good fun, inside and outside eating. Plus Massimo and his wife Tracey and team contribute huge amounts of time, money and food to the local community.

An institution of Hout Bay, Mariners is situated at one end of the crescent beach. There is a fish and chip restaurant on the ground floor, plus fresh fish shop and more around the corner. The restaurant is on the first floor and worth a visit for classic fish dishes, incredible artefacts and an individual vibe, with waiters in striped jumpers and great views of the bay. It's worth taking some time to study what decorates the walls and is in display cabinets - some of the finest naval and maritime memorabilia you would find anywhere.
