Exeter Quay is a 25 minute drive from the house. This is a pleasant part of Exeter, within walking distance of the Cathedral. There is a hand pulled ferry across the river and a few restaurants dotted around. If you feel like a long walk or cycle you can follow the river all the way to Exmouth and the sea.

The Exeter underground passages are 25 minutes from the house and could be combined with a trip to the museum and the quay. I've never been but friends say they are very interesting.

40 minutes drive from the house but a unique 3 year old attraction. The experience has been put together with great energy and attention to detail. They keep you busy for three hours with talks, demonstrations, honey tasting, candle making and seed planting. The restaurant has won awards. There is a play barn and outside adventure area for children but they also seem to really enjoy the talks and demos with the adults. I came away knowing a great deal about bees and honey and with a plan to start keeping bees. I can't recommend this attraction highly enough.
