8289 N Service Rd W, Bourbon, MO 65441 Heartland Farms was established in September of 2015 when we opened our corn maze and pumpkin patch. This was ultimately the start of the business, the corn maze and pumpkin patch runs every year late September thru October. Then the question began, "Can we get married here?!" Well sure we thought! By the end of May 2016 we had our beautiful 3,500 square foot event building complete. With rough cut oak throughout as well as a jawdropping pine finished ceiling it is something worth seeing! Our additional building connected to the event building has full inside living quarters making it the ultimate bride and grooms dream wedding. With two huge bedrooms overlooking the farm it makes for a great area to spend the night, get ready the day of the wedding, and truly have the wedding you have always dreamed of. Our venue also works great for parties in general whether it be a birthday party, wedding shower, baby shower, reunion, or whatever you have in mind!

The tall cliffs forming Vilander Bluff are carved from Ordovician period dolomite of the Gasconade formation primarily. Eons of stream down cutting by the Meramec and uplift of the Salem Plateau created the cliffs we see here today. On the bluff top growing from fissures in the rock and shallow soils is a stand of ancient red cedars. Prior to Euro-American settlement eastern red cedars were primarily confined to habitats such as found here – along cliffs. Red cedar is very fire intolerant as a seedling and sapling. The widespread wildfires ignited by Native Americans and occasional lightning strikes that occurred prior to Missouri statehood keptred cedars confined to fire-protected landscape positions that were still dry enough for red cedars to maintain a competitive edge over hardwood species. This are supports an exceptionally rich lichen flora with 70 lichen species documented. Lichens, a symbiotic organism part fungus and part algae, grow slowly under the conditions on Vilander Bluff. One species of lichen, Flavoparmelia rutidota, grows on the old-growth junipers along the bluff. This lichen species is at the northeastern most point of its range and is more typically found in Texas and Mexico. In the bottomland forests along the Meramec River the rare cerulean warbler has been documented. Other birds to keep on the lookout Other birds to keep on the lookout for along the Meramec include the kingfisher, great blue heron, wood duck, red-shouldered hawk, northern rough-winged swallow, and yellow-throated warbler. Underwater, this stretch of the Meramec supports mussel species, including the spectaclecase, a species of conservation concern. The spectaclecase occurs in large rivers and is more of a habitat-specialist often occurring on outside river bends below bluff lines, like here at Vilander Bluff. Freshwater mussels have a fascinating lifecycle, relying on specific host fish for their larvae to use during development into adults. To date the fish host species for the spectaclecase is unknown. Unfortunately, freshwater mussels are disappearing from Missouri and North America at an alarming rate due to water quality and stream habitat degradation. welcome to The Jesse James Wax Museum Did Jesse James die in 1882? A visit through the one-and-only Jesse James Wax Museum is an eye-opening experience and provides incredible evidence into the answer of that question. Was Jesse James gunned down by Bob Ford over 100 years ago or did he pull off the greatest escape of his career and live happily ever after until 1951? You be the judge. Quick Fact :: Jesse James was the first of the West's notorious badmen. He and his brother Frank, along with their cousins the Youngers, raised bank and train robbery to an art. After viewing the world's only live film footage of Jesse James, examining photography, reading the fascinating displays, observing the wax figures, and gazing at the $100,000 collection of vintage firearms and personal belongings of James and his gang, you will be astonished. The Museum is near the famous Meramec Caverns and is located along I-44, formerly historic Route 66. The Museum also features a unique gift shop.
