Sightseeing

Start at the top, driving past the main gate to get in. Bring coffee and your camera because the view is surreal. Start your morning up here and make your way though Inyo National Forest/John Muir Wilderness and a small stretch of the JMT.

Start at Devils Postpile and start hiking. Its about a mile in of very easy pumice terrain. They call it rainbow falls for a reason, y'know. Go 1.5 miles further to Lower falls and take a dip.

Not a day trip but a neat little side quest that maybe takes 30 minutes to see. On the way up to the main lodge you'll find this tucked away in the trees. Good for a light picnic and some deep thoughts about the frightening power of Mother Nature.

Saw a bear wandering about mid day this past June. Easy to forget you are in their home. I like this lake for the road bike trails. The Lake Mary Bike Trail back to town is a paved wonder and mostly downhill so check your brakes. GREAT FOR KIDS!!
