Food Scene

Will, one of the bartenders, is the mastermind behind all the cocktails. The Sidecar is my personal favorite, but they always have seasonal ones. Their fried chicken is probably the best in this part of Brooklyn. And their bloody mary's, whether for brunch or at any time, are also one of the best.

This is the best coffee place close to our home. If you go before 1PM, make sure you say hi to Emma, the best barista of the place. Emma is also a great improv comedian, so ask her if she has any shows coming up. My personal favorite drink is the Cortado; my spouse always goes for the double cappuccinos. Their regular coffee is also good and always fresh. You will love this small, quirky coffee place.

Their selection of beer and whiskeys is one of the best in the neighborhood. They have a beautiful, long bar, but also plenty of tables for group gatherings and intimate settings. Their backyard is wonderful in the summer. They offer good bar food: their burgers and chicken tenders are our favorites. They also offer a good brunch during the weekends. If you go during the night, say hi to Ricky, one of the servers.

The best Mexican food in the South Slope! I love their fish tacos and carnitas; my spouse always loves their fajitas. Their happy hour is great. Their food is authentic, as the number of Mexican families that eat in the place will attest. We eat here once a week, we cannot go too long without their food and friendly service.

Excellent breakfast, reasonably priced, every day of the week! During weekdays, they have breakfast specials until 11AM. They have traditional breakfast diner fare and also many types of omelettes. If you like rice and beans with your eggs, the Huevos a la Mexicana will keep you full, satisfied, and happy for a good price. If you like freshly squeezed juices, this is the best place close to our home.

Sightseeing

This is one of the best places to enjoy the Manhattan skyline. A visit to Brooklyn Heights, followed by a walk down the promenade into the Brooklyn waterfront at sunset is about as romantic as you can possibly get.
