Cream Teas

If you are walking around any of the local towns you will find lots of places serving cream teas but here are some suggestions to try. We welcome recommendations to add to the list.
In a beautiful spot on Berry Head, there are wonderful views along the coast in both directions. There is a car park for Berry Head nearby or it is a pleasant walk from Brixham along by the sea and up through the woods.

This is on the beach at Fishcombe Cove. You can sit and look out to sea and enjoy the view. it is also a good place for seal watching. You can usually park on the road near the Battery Gardens for free, then walk down through the gardens to the beach.

The Coach House Cafe at Lupton House is quite close to the chalet (it is on the right as you drive towards Brixham). It is open Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm and does a full afternoon tea.

In a lovely spot beside the River Dart in Stoke Gabriel, the neighbouring village a few miles up the river. The cafe is between the river and boating lake and a nice spot to sit. It is also a popular spot for crabbing in the summer and here is a pleasant circular walk around the village.

You can walk to Greenway House across the fields, stop for a cream tea and then return via Maypool which gives some wonderful views of the River Dart. Cream teas are served in the kitchen of Agatha Christies’s former holiday home, as well as in the courtyard cafe.

This is just how it sounds and a good place to go for a traditional cream tea. It is at Cockington, near Torquay and the grounds there are nice to walk round, with free entry.

This is perched up on the cliffs by Dartmouth Castle at the mouth of the River Dart. There are lovely views and a nice walk along the SW Coastal path you can do from here.
