A big MUST for Don Julio, just two blocks from home, usually crowded but they do take reservations. A few suggestions if not sure what to order: Start with some molleja (sweetbread), for main dish one of the best options is Ojo de Bife (Rib eye steak) or ask the waiter if they have a better cut that day. The other cut I personally like and suggest is Entraña (Thin skirt). You can have any of these with a salad or Provoleta cheese with red pepper. Last but not least two options of suggested Malbecs: la Primera Revancha or Petit Flor.

You should definitely try the Empanadas (sort of small pie) my favourites: Jamon del Norte, they also offer other typical dishes. Only cash!

Another good option for argentinean meat. Small and cozy, better make reservation to try this "gourmet" style meat dishes. Short menu but it's worth to try this alternative option

Old School bar. Typical porteño breakfast: coffee with medialunas, both grasa and manteca (I like this last better); tostado (ham and cheese grilled sandwich). Or an afternoon beer and picada (snacks)

Small and cozy restaurant where you can try these mediterranean tapas with an asian twist. Portions are tapas size so you should consider having at least two tapas per person. Don't miss the burrata with eggplant and savory pancake or the pork bun! Like many other restaurants in Buenos Aires, you may not get seated or receive your food as quickly as you are accustomed to. Credit Cards accepted.

Choripan is one the most local typical street food, chori=chorizo and pan=bread, basically a sausage sandwich. Small restaurant to stop by and try this typical food with an interesting twist of flavors, don't miss the special toppings! There's an option for those frustrated vegans visiting BA. Also try the Apostoles gin tonic, local gin with a touch of yerba mate, pink grapefruit, peppermint and eucalyptus. Same owners as a famous speak easy, Floreria Atlantico, located in downtown BA and La Carniceria on Thames street.
