Nonnahús is special because it is the original home of one of Iceland most known authors from the beginning of the last century. It is still in it's original state and is interesting to see because it shows well how people lived in in Iceland in that period and it has a good collection of the many translations worldwide of his book "Nonni and Manni"

In Hof the cultural center of Akureyri (which is a interesting building to visit if you have an interest in architecture) there is a local shop called Kista. In Kista you will find all kinds of Icelandic design along with other brands from Scandinavia. There you will find both clothing and interior stuff and art craft. The staff is friendly and the Tourist Info is located at the same place. Very useful! The bus stop is also situated there and you can buy tickets for the bus to any part in the country at the Tourist info.
