Founded in 1829, Confeitaria Nacional is the oldest and most traditional pastry in Portugal. Throughout the years of its life, a lot of historical facts happened, like the fight between liberals and absolutists, by the time of the monarchy as well as the independence of Brasil from Portugal, as well as the change from monarchy to republic in 1910. Before that, Confeitaria Nacional served the royal family tastes. Nowadays, it remains the official desserts and sweets catering for the President of Portugal. Recently, CNN distinguished the quality of this pastry and what it´s most significant is that it´s still run by the descendants of the founder. Address: Praça da Figueira, 18B.
