Taylor’s is the place to go, offers free wrapping and batteries with purchase. D.D. Bullwinkel’s Outdoors store is the premier outdoor retailer in Brevard, you’ll find clothing, footwear, and gear of rich quality and design. One of our favorite local shops in Brevard is Brevard Clay. We enjoy painting our own pottery at an affordable price and the staff are very helpful. If you need bike repair, we recommend Sycamore Cycles.

Beautiful scenery consisting of plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, sheer rock walls, and very rare flora and fauna. The visitor center has a museum quality exhibit with picnic grounds and shelters. 13 hiking trails offer over 56 miles of hiking and 17 miles of biking. A variety of learning opportunities for all ages, most events are free though some require pre-registration. Check online for events offered during your stay.

We love kayaking on Lake Oolenoy! No boats or jet skis to contend with. And its a short drive, 30 minutes or less. Hiking trails and gift shop are a bonus.

A drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway

We recommend taking a leisure drive, half day round-trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway for scenic overlook views of the Pisgah National Forest. Directions: start on 215 at Headwaters Outfitters and travel up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, after going under the overpass take an immediate left to access the Blue Ridge Parkway, take another left to go towards Asheville, drive until you come to 276, take 276 down to Brevard. Some of the major tourist attractions are located on 276. Consisting of the Cradle of Forestry, Sliding Rock, Fish Hatchery, and Looking Glass Falls.
