My favorite things to do

Want to ice skate? Around November to March, the city converts Headwaters Park into an outdoor ice rink. This is a fun place to spend a few hours. Skates can be rented on site. Headwaters park is roughly 6 minutes drive from the house.

The Coliseum hosts many events from concerts to sporting events. Both Mad Ants and Komets play at the Coliseum. If you are staying with us during hockey season (Oct-April), check out the Fort Wayne Komet schedule and see if you can catch a game. It's a fun experience for the whole family! The candied nuts are delicious! Fort Wayne Komets won the 2021 Kelly Cup!! You can go online to check out their playing schedule, but to avoid paying the ticketmaster fee, just buy the tickets at the box office. The box office is located at the Coliseum and is open from 10AM-5PM on weekdays only.

This is a fun place for the whole family. When my kids were little, we loved to go to Science Central for an afternoon of fun and learning. There are usually scheduled science demonstrations and areas designed for younger children, 2-7.

Fort Wayne's farmers market brings the farm to your table even in the colder months! In the summer, the market is held outside at McCulloch Park. In the colder months, it is open every Saturday from 9AM to 1PM. There is a changing variety of goodies including meats, farm fresh eggs, Amish cheese, baked goods, food trucks, canned goods, and local crafts and custom jewelry.

The river greenway connects many bike and walking trails in Fort Wayne. Many city parks are connected via the river greenway- Sweeney Park, Promenade Park, Aboite Indian Trails, etc. From the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreaction website: The Rivergreenway Trail is a 25 mile long linear park in Fort Wayne and New Haven, Indiana. The trail is along the banks of the St. Marys, St. Joseph and Maumee Rivers. Much of the Rivergreenway has been funded by the State of Indiana and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund. The Rivergreenway provides a great opportunity for recreation, fitness and conservation, as well as providing an alternative transportation network safely connecting the community. A linear park such as the Rivergreenway is a long, narrow park with limited access that is ideal for activities such as bicycling, hiking, nature study, jogging, rollerblading or just going for a leisurely walk. The Rivergreenway offers natural vistas and scenic overlooks within an urban environment. It creates a synergism between country and urban settings that affords users the opportunity to enjoy the best of both. Additionally, it creates a natural overflow against the invasion of high water which helps mitigate the ravages of flooding.

Fox Island County Park is in southwest Fort Wayne. It's a great place to take the little ones for a nice stroll in nature, go fishing, and in the winter, cross country skiing.

Food scene

Tolon is one of our favorite restaurants in Fort Wayne. The menu changes seasonally and all the ingredients used are locally sourced. I personally love the duck fat fries and viet-cajun noodle bowl. The pork chop is also to die for!

This place has great food and great atmosphere! They offers a large selection of 15 different tacos. Our favorites are duck mole and crispy pork belly. The drunkin avocado and cauli lama are delicious vegetarian options - even the non-vegetarians love them!

In the mood for upscale southeast Asian cuisine? Nawa is where you want to be! The Roti flabread is so delicious when dipped in a flight of curry sauces. If you've never had Bao- you got to try it! Bao is a steam asian bun with different stuffings inside. I love the deep fried red snapper with spicy basil sauce. Yummo!
