Just downstairs and they have the best soup dumplings I've found in Chinatown. They also accept credit cards, which most businesses in the neighborhoods will not.

Best Greek food I've had in the city - casual, affordable spot near Columbia University that's been around for decades.

Amazing Brazilian food, fantastic service, the caipirinhas are strong - be careful! A bit pricey - we reserve for special occasions.

Extensive mezcal selections, luxurious Mexican plates. If you go for brunch, I recommend the chilaquiles. 15 minute walk to Noho.

Best slice in NY, hands down. There are Joe's all over the city, so if you're in the mood for pizza, just type in Joe's to google maps and there should be one within a couple miles of you.

Good Chinese food on our street. Outdoor seating, cash only and they serve you the food in to-go containers which is convenient because the portions are big. Rihanna was spotted here the last time she was in NYC :)

Yes, yes, Little Italy is right around the corner but if you don't want to pay $30 for a plate of alfredo, you can take a short trip on the 7 train out to Queens and get absolutely delicious Italian food made by and for Italians in a neighborhood spot.

If you're comfortable with the trains and are looking for an affordable sit-down meal, this Salvadoran pupusa spot in Queens is where it's at. My bff is from El Salvador said this is one of the best spots she's tried outside her dad's kitchen.

*Very* casual, local spot nearby where you can eat lunch or dinner for under $5. I recommend the peanut noodles, and the pork and chive dumplings.

If you're in the market for a food rub or a hot stone massage, this is your place! I've been coming here for 5 years. Incredibly affordable, very clean and professional. On weekend I recommend an appointment.

Rent a Citibike and bike along the Hudson River. The sunsets are gorgeous and you can hop off at any time and head into the city for a bite.

Stuck in Times Square and feeling miserable? This little oasis is nearby! This is a beautiful park by the NYC Public Library on 40th street and 6th Ave. There are lots of tables, shade and sometimes music performances in the evenings. There is also a Whole Foods across the street if you need sustenance.

Of course the Met, Moma and the Guggenheim are no-brainer museums to visit, but this is a funky, modern museum within walking distance of the apartment that always has new, wild exhibits.

This is a really nice park the city built on top of an abandoned train rail that snakes through the west side of lower Manhattan. I recommend hitting up the Whitney Museum of American Art at the end of the park around 14th street and/or heading over to Chelsea Market nearby for something to eat or some shopping.

Getting around

Cash, Cash, Cash

Most businesses in Chinatown only accept cash. There are a variety of banks right around the corner on Canal Street to withdraw.
