The village has a Heritage Centre and a variety of interesting shops, buildings and traditional pubs around its main square. Cartmel hosts its highly popular steeple chase meetings at the spring and summer bank holidays.

A peaceful place for quiet reflection, situated right by the shoreline with a lovely woodland walk. Guided tours of the house and temple are available and visitors often take part in meditation at the temple. There is a wonderful cafe, great for vegetarian and vegan food. Please Note: Manjushri KMC will be CLOSED to the public for their annual Summer Festival event from Friday29July, to Saturday 13August. The lower woods and beach remain open

Our nearest town- a fine market town with old buildings and a labyrinth of cobbled streets. Lots of nice places to eat and drink, we particularly recommend Poppy's Cafe.
